How to get more FPS in VALORANT
VALORANT leans on your processor more than your graphics card, so the biggest wins are a few settings in its Video menu and a Windows set up for gaming. Most PCs can hold well above their monitor’s refresh rate once these are right.
- Turn on Multithreaded Rendering.
- Set NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency to On + Boost.
- Play in Fullscreen with VSync off.
- Turn off Limit FPS Always, or set it well above your refresh rate.
- Set Windows power mode to Best performance.
Measure first
Open Settings > Video > Stats and set Client FPS to Text Only. Play a deathmatch or a custom game on the same map before and after each change, so you know what actually helped.
1. VALORANT’s General video settings
| Setting | Pick |
|---|---|
| Display Mode | FullscreenUsually smoother and lower latency than Windowed. |
| Resolution | Your monitor’s native resolution |
| Limit FPS Always | OffOr a cap well above your refresh rate if your FPS jumps around a lot. |
| Limit FPS in Menus / Background | OnSaves power and heat when you’re not playing. |
2. Graphics Quality
| Setting | Pick |
|---|---|
| Multithreaded Rendering | OnThe single biggest FPS setting on most PCs with 4 or more cores. |
| Material, Texture, Detail, UI Quality | LowRaise Texture Quality if you have plenty of graphics memory. |
| Vignette | Off |
| VSync | OffVSync adds input lag. |
| Anti-Aliasing | None or MSAA 2x |
| Anisotropic Filtering | 1x or 2x |
| Improve Clarity, Bloom, Distortion, Cast Shadows | Off |
| NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency | On + BoostNVIDIA cards only. It cuts input lag. |
3. Windows settings
- Game Mode on: Settings > Gaming > Game Mode.
- Power mode: Settings > System > Power & battery > Power mode > Best performance. On a laptop, plug in the charger.
- Background recording off: Settings > Gaming > Captures, then turn off Record what happened.
- Startup apps: Settings > Apps > Startup. Turn off anything you don’t need.
- Laptops with two graphics chips: Settings > System > Display > Graphics, add VALORANT and choose High performance.
Leave Secure Boot and TPM switched on in your BIOS: on Windows 11, VALORANT’s anti-cheat (Vanguard) won’t start without them.
4. Your graphics driver
Get the newest driver from the company that made your graphics card: the NVIDIA App, AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition or Intel’s graphics software. The one Windows Update installs is often old.
5. Your monitor
- Refresh rate: Settings > System > Display > Advanced display > Choose a refresh rate. Pick the highest number. Lots of 144 Hz monitors sit at 60 Hz until you change this.
- Desktop PC? Plug your monitor into the graphics card, not the motherboard.
6. Heat and dust
A PC that gets too hot slows itself down. If your FPS starts high and drops after a few rounds, clean the fans and keep the vents clear.
Rather do it in one click?
Winsmate Tweaks switches on the Windows settings that get you more FPS, less input lag and steadier ping, in VALORANT and every other game. It only changes Windows, never VALORANT’s files, so it’s safe with Vanguard. Its FPS Test measures your real FPS and 1% lows in a match, and the overlay shows them while you play.
Winsmate saves your old settings before it changes anything, so one button puts everything back.
